Who am I..
My name is Sue Knowles, Couple/Relationship Therapist, Counsellor, Hypnotherapist but most of all someone you can trust to share with confidence.
I have been a Hypnotherapist and Counsellor for eight years I am also an Advanced Relationship Psychotherapist.
I am integrally trained which gives me the opportunity to utilise various techniques to support my clients, be it CBT, Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis or just plain talking therapy.
I have worked within the school environment where I have counselled young people from 8-18 and now see them privately within my own therapy room.
I have also worked extensively with Cruse supporting my clients with loss and bereavement.
As a Hypnotherapist I can support you to navigate through issues that may have troubled you for many years, or to overcome a habit that you have struggled to control.
I am an Advanced Psychotherapeutic Counsellor accredited with the National Counselling Society and a member with BACP with proven experience of working with a variety of clients in private practice. I also work as an Associate Counsellor with Embrace for a number of companies with Employment Assisted Programmes and with Cruse Bereavement and YMCA. I am also a Supervisor. I have a passion for supporting young people both within my associate role and within my own practice, because I believe in the importance of helping young people to find the right support and self belief while they are young to prevent the heart ache of the effects much later in life. How may I help you .......
As an Advanced Psychotherapist, the relationship I develop with my client is at the centre of my practice. I believe that each person is unique and work with my client to help them systematically navigate through their issues by implementing effective methods to instil self-awareness and understanding and encouraging them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations.
I work integrally which means that I am able to use various therapy types to meet your needs, be it Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Psychotherapy, Talking Therapy.
Helping people to improve their quality of life has always been a passion for me. It is my belief that each person is unique and I tailor my therapy to meet the needs of the individual by considering their personal and unique abilities. I use all my skills and life experiences to assist my clients to review and access their personal qualities to help them achieve fullness and improve their quality of life.
I have experience working with clients from young children to senior adults presenting with a variety of issues such as depression, grief and bereavement, anxiety and low self esteem, anger management, domestic abuse, phobias, social and relationship issues, weight management, school and exam concerns.
Couples who come to me for support will receive a safe space to explore the issues that are blocking their relationship and develop new methods of communication to support changes to build upon.
The Therapies I offer ......
The therapeutic approach I adopt is guided by the presenting needs of my client and the client themselves and I utilise an integrative approach by incorporating CBT, Gestalt, Psychotherapy or Person Centred therapy as appropriate.

Couples Counselling
If you are experiencing problems and disillusionment within your relationship it does not signify that the relationship is doomed...
Moving through your relationship it is easy to lose site of the things that help it grow and strengthen like:
- How you work through your differences
- Where you focus your attention
- How you respond and communicate through stressful situations
- How you manage and think about your difficulties
Sometimes you may just wish to have support to end things in an amicable way to move forward to a different type of relationship together.
With Couples therapy you have the opportunity to explore any impasse that is preventing you from reaching the connection you previously had or seek for your future in a safe and neutral atmosphere...
What people say …..
"I just wanted to say that since my session, without even realising it my confidence and self esteem has improved so much. It isn’t even me making a conscious effort, it’s after a situation I realise how different I feel and how without even thinking I’m so much more relaxed and just me. I’m not thinking about whether people like me or not and feel like I can just be myself, I am also dealing with situations so much better too. I feel a much stronger person inside and not someone putting a strong front on to the world.
Thank you Sue, you have helped me so much"

Young person Counselling
Thank you so much for your support you have given my daughter, her self esteem was very low and she was struggling at school with her friendship groups - you helped her to boost her confidence and to recognise what she was able to do to help her with her situation.
Thank you so much
Lorna
Grief Counselling/Smoking cessation
"I originally came for counselling following the loss of my husband quite suddenly. Having worked through these emotions, I then decided to come and see you with my smoking habit.
I saw you four months ago when I underwent Hypnotherapy to stop smoking. I can honestly say that I haven't had a cigarette since. I have been with people and found the smell of the smoke has put me off ever going back.
Thank you for the help that you have given me."
